Bigg Boss 19, the current season of India’s most popular reality show, is going to have a shocking twist; the producers have completely opted out of YouTubers and social media influencers from its contestant list.

Additionally, they will be going back to the show’s roots with all the contestants being established TV celebrities. This is a significant change from the last few seasons.

The producers believe that the biosphere of reality shows has been compromised by the introduction of digital creators, who come equipped with pre‑scripted characters and massive numbers of fans.

By working only with more traditional TV and film personalities, they are hoping to reintroduce real, unscripted drama back into the programming.

Salman Khan returns as host and resumes his legacy as the tough judge of “Weekend Ka Vaar.” Producers are relying on veteran actors, not content creators, for organically high-octane drama. They want to restore the basic tenet of the show, back to the “unglamourised” competitive ethos.

Bigg Boss 19 is betting big by going back to the original format and taking away digital influencers who have become the central characters. It is also the longest season yet with no OTT spin-off, and returning with its old host, Bigg Boss, will be loaded with raw and mature reality and arguments, similar to those original fans loved.

The decision to return to the celebrity format probably reflects viewer fatigue with social media personalities and a renewed interest in actual interactions between celebrities.
