In a disclosure that’s left the Bollywood grapevine buzzing, director Vivek Agnihotri has broken his silence about the stressful days while shooting the 2007 sports drama ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’. The director frankly admitted that working with Anurag Kashyap, who was writing the dialogues for the movie, was no cakewalk.
Telling it like it is on the Digital Commentary YouTube channel, Agnihotri was blunt. The director went on to explain that Kashyap’s mercurial temperament, courtesy of his excessive alcohol consumption, made the filming process extremely demanding. So much so, that dealing with him became a full-time job in itself.
In trying to make the process more streamlined, Kashyap brought a then-young Vikramaditya Motwane to meet with Agnihotri, who was suggested by Kashyap that he might help with the script. But Agnihotri believed the vision for the film started to wander off course.
Even with the professional glitches, Agnihotri stressed that he does not bear a personal grudge against Kashyap. But he did say that Kashyap’s erratic nature, which might have been compounded by his drinking lifestyle, made working together problematic.
Although Kashyap hasn’t commented on these recent allegations directly, he has in the past spoken about his addiction to alcohol and depression, particularly after his project ‘Maximum City’ was put on the back burner. The director said that the setback pushed him into a spiral, and he suffered two heart attacks.
