Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star: A ₹73‑Lakh Milestone That Puts India on the Boulevard Map

Deepika Padukone becomes the first Indian actress to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! The honour.

Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has again achieved another first in her rapidly expanding international career: on 3 July 2025, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced she will receive a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.

This honor marks her as the first Indian actress to be enshrined in terrazzo and brass on Hollywood Boulevard, adding her name to some of the world’s entertainment’s biggest names.

On one hand, the award cannot be purchased; on the other hand, every inductee (or his/her studio, record label, or fan club) must pay a sponsorship fee of US$85,000, or approximately ₹73 lakh at current exchange rates.

The Hollywood Historic Trust uses the funds to create and install the pink-and-brass star, put on the public unveiling ceremony, and care for the landmark for the next decades.

Walk of Fame Committee chairman Peter Roth succinctly articulated the policy in the unveiling of the 2026 roster: “The fee underwrites the maintenance of this cultural treasure; it is not a buying price.”

Padukone’s trek to the Hollywood Walk of Fame began in boxing rings in Bengaluru. Her first dream was to be a professional badminton player; she moved from photo shoots in Mumbai to movie screen debuts, such as in Om Shanti Om (2007).

She cemented a steady link of Bollywood to the global cadence with Vin Diesel, Return of Xander Cage (2017), a few appearances on the Cannes red carpet, and, most notably, an introduction to RRR’s Oscar-winning song “Naatu Naatu” at the 95th Academy Awards.

She has been on TIME magazine’s cover twice, as a “Global Icon,” and received the distinction of being included on the TIME 100 list.
